Shirley Freeman is an Intramural Program Assistant for the Center for Research on Genomics and Global Health (CRGGH) housed under the Metabolic, Cardiovascular and Inflammatory Disease Genomics Branch at the National Human Genome Research Institute, National Institutes of Health. Shirley brings over 12 years of administrative experience to NHGRI. She manages the daily operations of the CRGGH, including providing administrative support to the Branch Chief, Research Staff, and Collaborators.

Prior to joining NHGRI in March 2008, Shirley worked for the National Human Genome Center at Howard University as an Assistant Research Administrator where she provided administrative support to the Director and Research Staff of the Genetic Epidemiology Unit. She also served in the capacity of an Administrative Assistant at Strayer University and the office of former D.C. City Councilmember Frank Smith. Shirley holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Strayer University in Washington, D.C.
