Petals of Possibilities
The slogan “Give Us Bread and Roses” from the 1912 labor movement called for more than just survival — it demanded dignity, joy, and a better quality of life. This resonates deeply with individuals living with sickle cell disease (SCD), who seek not only to survive but to thrive.
For many with SCD, “bread” represents essential healthcare and treatments, while “roses” symbolize the dream of having children. Recognizing this, SC RED is launching the Petals of Possibilities Discount Program. This initiative partners with fertility clinics to offer at least a 28% discount on fertility preservation for both birthing and non-birthing individuals with SCD.
Through this program, we support the sickle cell community’s right to survival and the possibility of building a family, ensuring they have access to both “bread” and “roses.”
